Samples and Seconds Information
Samples
‘Samples’ are experimental pieces, never to be repeated so complete one of a kind! When creating a new collection I always put together and test out ideas - whether this be new illustrations, mug shapes or glaze combinations. Sometimes they aren’t exactly what I had in mind but are nonetheless a lovely piece so is good to find a new home and be sold as a ‘sample’.
Seconds
‘Seconds’ are ceramics that didn’t meet the threshold for full prices ware during its final inspection. Every piece is checked over as it comes out of the kiln, then again when being packed up for shipment; if a fault is found, I won’t sell it at full price and hold it back to sell at a reduced rate. Every maker will have a different tolerance as to what is classed as a ‘seconds’, so to be clear to you guys, I have listed these below!
Faults may include:
- Glaze blemish’s or variations
- Illustration or lustre blemish’s or colour variation
- Warping/wobbly handles
- Size variation
- Weight variation
I strongly recommend handwashing your samples & seconds, taking them to the dishwasher may cause initial superficial cracks, glaze imperfections or illustration imperfections to be exacerbated.
Samples and Seconds Returns policy
All of my samples & seconds sales are final, they DO NOT apply to my usual returns policy. Pieces are always packed extremely securely and breakages are very very rare, but refunds will be given in the unfortunate event that a piece arrives broken. If this does occur, please contact me immediately & be sure to photograph all breakage evidence (outer box etc).
